ABOUT ELDER FAMILY FARMS
Elder Family Farms is a real place with real people at the front line. As a family we are devoted to raising the best grass fed, free choice finished beef. We (Cole, Katie and our 3 young children) do all the work ourselves. We are not a corporate outfit. The beef we sell you has spent much, if not all of their lives here on the farm. We believe that hard work and dedication are key. We are dedicated to bring you the best quality beef that you will ever taste (unless you burn it, then that’s all on you).
OUR MISSION
Our passion is to grow the best quality beef you’ve ever had and do it in a way that benefits the health of all the parts of an agricultural system. That includes you, the land, the communities our business supports, the cattle and our family.
The mission means we test everything we do by this simple question: does our beef improve health or reduce health? We are passionate about this. We believe that our work to improve the health of our animals and land directly ties to the health of our customers as well as our personal families health and the health of those around us. Unlike many other beef producers that have jumped on a bandwagon to collect premiums on a product, we truly believe in the importance of what we do for health. We as a family are committed to quality clean food untainted by the “junk” you’ll find in conventional food.

OUR STORY
The vision started in 2007 when Cole and I got married (or got hitched if you ask Cole). Neither Cole or I were raised on farms but both of us had the desire in our hearts to have a cattle operation. We started the farm with 2 horses and very soon after we purchased 4 bottle calves, that’s when it all began. From that point on I was hooked, giving a bottle and loving on calves everyday there was no turning back.
Our farm originated with the intent of raising show cattle for our (one day) children to show in 4H and also provide quality beef for our family.
In 2013 Cole and I welcomed our first son, Olin Dee to farm life. In 2014 we welcomed another cowboy, Otto Gene. In 2018 the main boss was born, a cowgirl (princess as her older brothers call her), Arden Kay.
The next several years were used for growing and learning everything we could from knowledgeable, supportive, encouraging friends, neighbors and cattle mentors. That brings us to where we are today. With the request for premium beef at an all time high, we know this is exactly what God has called us to do. Being able to provide premium beef to communities and families and know that our beef is not packed with all the “junk” is what drives us.

THE ONES THAT GET ALL THE CREDIT
Our cattle can spend the days grazing anywhere from woods to acres of green pastures, they even have their own private beach. They have access to free feed on mineral and quality protein containing hay for the downright cold winter months. Each of the children have daily chores that they get excited about doing (that will change as the years progress).
We raise our cattle with the best end result possible. Our cattle are checked multiple times per day in addition to having 24-hour access to our top notch mineral program. The calves can enter creep feeders as soon as they show interest, it is kept full with minerals and vitamins that help jump start a healthy growing immune system. They are then are transferred to a different pasture where they have access to continued minerals at their leisure. The cattle get to choose how they want to be finished, if they want grain for the last 4 months of their lives it's available, if they want grass they can skip the grain and eat only grass...why not let them have a choice on what they want to eat?

No! Our cattle are grass-fed and free choice grain finished. What does that mean? Our cattle start their lives off on grass and natural minerals, about 4-5 months before butcher we offer grain. The cattle have the option to eat grain if they feel they need it. We let them have the choice.
You want to make sure you have the freezer space to hold your beef. 1/8 Beef: requires approx. 1.5 - 2.0 cubic ft. of freezer space. This will fit in a regular fridge-freezer compartment. It will take about half the space, which will leave room for other goods. No big freezer needed. 1/4 Beef: requires approx. 3.5 - 4.0 cubic ft. of freezer space. This will fit in a small chest/upright freezer. 1/2 Beef: requires approx. 7 - 8 cubic ft. of freezer space. This will fit in a medium chest/upright freezer.
Your beef will be dry-aged for 14-19 days to increase tenderness and flavor. We have found this to be the optimal time for our grass-fed beef. It's worth the wait!
We get our beef processed at Wenneman Meat Co. They are a small USDA inspected facility that does an incredible job. What most impresses us is the cleanliness of the workspace and the professionalism of those who process our cattle.
We ship with an insulated box liner and dry ice to keep your beef frozen. We guarantee your order to arrive fully frozen, no matter where you live, or your money back. Even if your order ships in 100-degree weather, it will still arrive solid-frozen.
We want every customer to be happy. In the occasion that you are not satisfied, we will give you 100% of your money back. No questions asked.
Each cut is individually packaged, labeled and vacuum sealed.
